The New Labour Government has transferred and adopted U.S. welfare policies. The research explored the value of evidence based research methods as tools for social policy makers. Systematic review and meta-analysis were applied to the research evidence to determine the factors associated with the successful implementation of welfare to work strategies. The project was funded by the Economic and Social Research Council as part of its Future of Governance Programme.
